Memphis, Tenn., April 16, 2024 Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women and the Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children’s Hospital hosted their first baby and children’s fair to provide education and resources to current and expectant parents on Saturday, April 13.

More than 175 people attended the event, which featured education, demonstrations and the opportunity to talk to maternal and pediatric experts to help prepare parents to welcome their newborns and address common health concerns for young children.

“At Baptist Women’s Hospital and Baptist Children’s Hospital, it is important for us to help parents throughout their parenting journey,” said Allison Bosse, CEO and administrator of Baptist Women’s Hospital and Baptist Children’s Hospital. “Our network of resources extends beyond our team of doctors, nurses and specialists who provide prenatal, postnatal and pediatric care. We rely heavily on our community partnerships to help provide our patients with the full continuum of care.”

More than 40 vendors, including Pediatrician Groups, My Baby 4 Me, Dr. Melrose Blackett of Women’s Consultants OBGYN, Urogynecology Physical Therapists and Saving Lost Kids participated in the health fair and covered such topics as labor and delivery, breastfeeding, child health, nutrition and safety. Highlights of the event included P.D. Parrot, Baptist’s pediatric mascot, and an interactive teddy bear clinic to normalize the hospital experience through medical play.  Approximately 100 teddy bears were given out with about 60 certificates given for completed assessments.
